meant to put this up a while ago.

and this is how things are made.

girl push ups

July 21st, 2008

so, i’ve wanted to title a post with the above title for some time now. and i’ve done it. the girl push up is a hot-button topic with me. kind of like one of those political hot-button topics… you know the ones. so much so, that i would probably jump on some bandwagon if a politician shared the same view on girl push ups as i do.

now. i married an independent person. what does that mean? that wasn’t you asking the question, that was the “person” asking that question. i’ll answer. it means “i can do it.” that’s what it means. it means, “i don’t need your help.” “i don’t need you.” just so this doesn’t turn out to be my last post… due to someone removing my fingers from my hands… i’ll admit that i am exaggerating in an effort to make this seem more interesting than it really is. but follow me. equality. we are equal. i can dig it. but how are girl push ups equal?

i could make this into another post… but why. i’m going all out. my unequally hot wife and i went on our annual blueberry picking trip to east texas a couple of weekends ago. huh. blueberries? sounds like an old people thing to do. yes. it is. and since i’ve turned 30 there has been a lot of talk about being old. well, i’m not. and the blueberry picking was fun. this was a new spot we found. the past two years we’ve picked in tyler. this year. nowhere, texas. but the picking was good.

bushes

the gent running the joint said we’d have to search for them berries.

searching

can you find erins?

picking

there she is.

found some

just so you know. these are not small blueberries you are seeing.

not posed

i definitely did not pose for this shot. see how the arm hair glistens in the sun. it’s like a soft focus. stunning.

full

turns out. we didn’t have to search too hard. we’ve got enough blueberries to make it through the winter now. thank goodness. these two buckets cost $20 total. and it was fun! you think it’s funny to laugh at that. shut up.

viva

July 7th, 2008

so i’ve been making cracks about a certain band’s wardrobe choices they seem to have adopted for their new album and that they have opted to wear their outfits every time they are in public. jokes abound about dry cleaning and revolutionary attire… ground breaking material.

but a funny thing happened. i noticed another band that i actually like…. donning similar attire.

i’ve ordered my jacket. can’t wait for it.

wait. i just wrote a post on this “weblog” about band fashion. the next season of project runway can’t start soon enough. i need help.

running in place

July 2nd, 2008

I started a running/workout regime this week. e and i started it together. we’re two days into it. so i’ll keep you posted. it’s not that hardcore. really. but it should get us into some kind of shape. we played tennis on monday night and it was evident that we were not in shape. we’re going to order (are you reading this erin) the book that V has. but i have a little workout plan for right now. yep.  got it off yahoo’s front page a couple of months ago. that’s right. look good in a swimsuit in 4-6 weeks. again. nothing hard. one item on the plan… for one of the days… is running in place while kicking your knees up high. i love my wife. i’m not making fun of her. this is just something i’ve never known about her. she can’t run in place. so we were in our backyard yesterday and today and i ran in place, kicking my knees high. and she ran… around the yard… kicking her knees up high. kind of weaving around… almost a figure 8. interesting.

not so random thoughts

June 4th, 2008

random thoughts would be different i think… than the thoughts i have.  i’m not sure what random thoughts would actually be like.  although i know someone who probably knows a thing or two about random thoughts.

mee

the lady on the left is my best friend.  as of yesterday we have been married best friends for 2 years.  she is really cool.  now on to the thoughts.

movies
the red band trailer is becoming the thing to do.  do you know what a red band trailer is?

tropic thunder
step brothers
burn after reading

kind of looking forward to tropic thunder and the coen’s next.  hopefully it will be funny like this and not like this.

music
no radiohead news.  some good shows coming up though.  mmj fleet foxes wolf parade the swell season w/iron and wine
MOGWAI
sorry didn’t list dcfc or coldplay (november).  for various reasons.  the former having stopped making interesting music a few albums ago… the later… well… poor guys… not interested in seeing them… or paying $97 face value for 1 ticket.

books
books?  seriously?  that’s right.  I’ve turned over a new leaf.  going to read more.  I started The Road a while back… cause i heard it was good.  turns out it is a pretty hip book these days.  so i found out i’m cool too.  two birds.  took me a while.. because i took an extended break from it.  but finally finished it recently.  read it if you haven’t.  put on some sigur ros and your hipness will soar to new levels.  my friend ryan has read it twice.  the book is amazing though.  i started another mccarthy book after i finished… Blood Meridian… recommended by my friend watman.  yeah, that guy can write.  just a little.  the movie version of The Road is coming out in sept… will be interesting to see how it turns out.  could be really good.  probably different from the book.  who knows.

the road

ny times had a good article about the filming of the movie.

so i think that is enough for today.  i’m tired.  been working too much.  bye.

do you remember

“how was your weekend?”

ahh. the question most asked on monday mornings… well if you work in an environment of people who care… or at least pretend to care. the question is nothing to complain about. and i am not going to complain. not about the question. and not about my weekend.

i turned thirty on saturday. i celebrated all weekend.

friday
started it off with a bang (a bang? really casey? come on, that is just lazy writing). ran around town picking up foods from cuban/mexican restaurants most of the afternoon on friday in preparation for my party. anyway, the party was great. we had about 35 or so. it was a perfect night. a lot of fun. hopefully people will upload more photos here.

saturday
after getting our guy francisco started on cleaning out our 7 flowerbeds… we headed for houston around 3.30. why go to houston. 1.) radiohead. 2.) because 2 shows = better than 1. 3.) houston is kind of our place we see radiohead. we were there in 01 and 03. i also saw them in 98. now. i don’t think i am going to get into “why radiohead.” i’ll just say we like them. i’m already getting bored with this post. how’s that. the woodlands pavilion is easily a better venue than superpages.com. and the parking is free. the weather was perfect. our seats were close. the place was packed. the lawn was standing room only. it looked like a wave of people. i’m glad we had nice seats. but you don’t sit at radiohead. no one sits. unless you are in a wheelchair. there is no reason to sit. i’m not alone in saying that this is the greatest band now and of our generation. i’m going to be able to explain it to you now. but in a word. the houston show was great. after 2 hours of perfect music. we drove all the way back home. that was a little silly. but we made it. erin loves it when i drive with my head out the window. or slap myself in the face when making a late night drive. we loaded up on mountain dew and doritos though. spicy buffalo ranch or some such flavor. we made it back about 2.30a. just in time. just in time to get to sleep. happy birthday.

sunday
we slept in. we came back the night before to save money. to pay the guy sunday morning for the work he had been doing on our flower beds. they look excellent. i need some new adjectives. i’m tired of the ones i use. suggestions welcomed.  slept in. paid francisco. went to brunch at la duni. migas quatros quesos. nap. and more radiohead. now. our tickets for houston were much better than the ones i had for dallas. i was thinking i needed to upgrade. i looked on ebay and craigslist. i knew. it was too early. so we piled in a car and headed to the show with tom and geoffrey. i talked to every scalper in the parking lot and at the front of the venue. i was looking to trade up. but it was too early. now my tickets wouldn’t have been bad. but this is to see you know who. so i waited. erin was so good. she played along with my plan. we waited. i had approached a scalper (or ticket broker as they are now called) earlier and he could not close the deal. so after waiting. the opening band playing in the background. the scalper came calling. the deal was finalized. 3rd row. the show was (insert new adjective…. greater than or equal to… great). chills, thrills, frills, spills (sick beer spills). the light show.  the set list. the band. even the crowd couldn’t screw it up. nope, this was a good one. here are a few links to explain what i cannot.

who got the better show.  dallas or houston?

last night

better pics than i took

now. name the top five shows you’ve seen. i have my 5.

30 things

May 14th, 2008

titles are meaningless.

i am going to have a fun weekend. first. i’m having a party. a party to celebrate getting older. then.

100_0255

radiohead. radiohead is the best. sorry ssm. i am going to two shows this weekend. saturday in houston and sunday in dallas. i’m ready. erin and i have seen them in houston a few times… so it is kind of like our thing.  they haven’t been to dallas the last few times they have toured.  so if you don’t have tickets… well good luck.

your blog is boring

May 13th, 2008

my beautiful wife of almost 2 years encouraged me with that bit of sunshine. “It’s about gear.” so what. i love you too. i know. i don’t have much to say or much that goes on in my life. but who does. and look at all of the weblogs populating the web. so write away you millions of bloggers.

as for my life. the playhouse is out of my back yard. that happened on saturday. they showed up at noon… i knew it would take a while… if they got it out at all. they left about 4. i’ll take a pic of my new backyard. it is so big. the new proud owners of the little playhouse… had to chop that thing up in so many pieces… i’m not sure it is going back together. i’m being optimistic… it is not going back together.  as for me… i’m mr. backyard. i have a few ideas.  outdoor living area. relaxation. good times. we cooked out on mother’s day.  not too bad. this is boring. but i’ve thought about it. i don’t want to be negative. but negative would probably make this more interesting. ok. the next paragraph will be negative.

why do they only pick up our recycle bin every other week? i hate that. it is so stupid. we have more recyclables than we have regular trash. it doesn’t make sense. i’m mad.

how was that?
